Find out About the McGlynn School Wind Turbine

Medford’s first wind turbine, located at the McGlynn school complex, was officially unveiled on Thursday, January 29, at 10:30AM.

The turbine stands 131 feet tall and has 33-foot blades that spin around 12 miles per hour. The project is expected to generate 170,000 Kilowatt hours per year, or about 10% of the school’s electricity. That’s a savings of $25,000 to the city and an estimated 76 tons of carbon dioxide to the environment.  Students will also be able to use special software that will collect data from the wind turbine so they can see how much electricity it is generating at any given moment.
