Play and Learn Groups
Play and Learn groups are FREE, interactive programs for families who live or work in Medford. Play and Learn Group Leaders offer children a safe, literacy-rich environment where they can explore their world and develop new friendships. They are designed to offer parents/caregivers social connections; help families connect with and be resources for each other; provide information to help parents access needed services and resources; and model positive strategies to support parent/child interactions.
Play and Learn groups are aligned with age-specific Early Education and Care (EEC) guidelines (www.mass.gov/eec) and utilize the Strengthening Families approach (www.cssp.org/reform/strengtheningfamilies). These groups include Brain Building in Progress (www.brainbuildinginprogress.org) and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) activities. Handouts will be distributed at each session that give ideas to try at home.
