Today is the 17th day of school and here are your morning announcements.

Pledge of Allegiance

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

Here are a few morning announcements:


SCHOOL NEWS:

*** BREAKING NEWS REGARDING BUSES: Please be advised that the Ash & Webster stop was taken OFF bus #4 and added to bus #17 to address overcrowding.

*** Please be reminded that late buses are running on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons until the end of the month. Starting in October, late busses will run Tuesday, WEDNESDAY, and Thursday!

*** Calling all 8th graders!! Come be a part of the W.A.M.S. team! Sign up in groups of four outside the Music Room (204).

*** The library is now open for study hall hours during all lunch periods. Remember that you need a pass and you need to bring your materials with you. During study hall hours, you may come to the library to do homework, use the library resources for school work, read a book and check out or return library books.

*** Attention all 8th graders – please be reminded that backpacks are to be left in your locker until 2:15pm. Thank you!!

LUNCH:

TODAY’S LUNCH SPECIAL IS FISH STICKS SERVED WITH POTATO WEDGES, SAUTEED SPINACH, A WHOLE GRAIN COOKIE, AND PINEAPPLE TIDBITS. ENJOY!

CLUBS:

***Do you want to get your homework done before you go home on Tuesdays? Homework Club is now open to all AMS students Tuesdays after school! Free computer use, free wifi, free printing, and free homework help! There is no signing up required! See you there!

*** The Shakespeare Project is coming back to AMS!!! The Shakespeare Project is an after-school club run by actors from Tufts University and is open to all Medford middle school students. The club is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday afternoons in the AMS Music Room from October-December. An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, September 28 after school. Come see what this great program is all about!!

***On Tuesday, September 26th, the AMS Running Club will host the first “1 Mile Challenge” of the year. Permission forms will be available in the office, cafeteria as well as in Mr. Dowaliby’s classroom.

*** Calling all singers, dancers, jugglers, instrumentalists, and comedians – it’s TALENT SHOW time!! The annual AMS Talent Show will take place on Thursday, November 16 and it’s time to start practicing! Auditions for this year’s show are in just ONE week (October 3-6). Sign up for a day and time slot outside of the music room (204). See Ms. Grant with any questions.

*** Movie Club will start next Thursday, September 28th. Come to the Viscuse International Film Archive in room 312 to watch the movie, Inception. Movie Club is currently only open to 7th and 8th graders.

*** The AMS Builders Club will be holding an information meeting this Thursday, September 21 after school in Mr. Lamb’s room, 307. Builders Club is affiliated with Kiwanis, an international organization which promotes leadership through community service and fundraising efforts. If you are interested in making an impact on your school and community please come to the meeting on Thursday, get a permission slip, and learn what Builders Club is all about!

***Attention all Soccer Fans, Soccer Club will be starting on Tuesday, September 26 on the back field soccer.

*** Attention all Dodgeball Players, the 2017 Dodgeball Draft will take place on Thursday, September 28 in the gym. All students interested in playing must be present on this day so they can be chosen for a team.

***Are you interested in learning about and celebrating other cultures, holidays and traditions from around the world, through art, movies, trivia and more? Are you interested in practicing Spanish or Italian through games and competitions? Foreign Language Club will be meeting on Thursdays in Room 207, and is open to all AMS students!

***Art club will have its first meeting of the year October 4th after school in the art room. Art club will continue to meet on Wednesdays throughout the year.

AMS SHOUT OUT:
Congratulations to Peyton Rollings our honor roll student at the Andrews Middle School who cleared two major hurdles last month, capturing a pair of AAU National titles in the 200m and 100m hurdles at the Junior Olympics in Ypsilanti, Michigan in August.
