Media Center Information
The mission of the Medford School Library program is to ensure that students attain the knowledge and skills to effectively research and use information and to promote independent and critical thinking. The school library program will provide a rich variety of materials and instruction to support the curriculum and will promote enthusiasm for lifelong learning.
The library collection is cataloged on a library computer database. Materials in the collection can be searched for on the Spectrum library catalog from any computer in the school by clicking on the desktop icon, Spectrum Patrons Cat.
The library is available during school hours. A staff person is available to assist students and teachers on Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 2:15. On most Thursdays, the library is open until 3:15. The library is open for study hall hours during all lunch periods Monday to Friday. A pass is required and students should come to the library for school related work or activities, such as, working on homework, printing an assignment, checking out a book, or individual reading. Please remember that food and drinks are not allowed in the library, so if you would like to come during your lunch time, please finish your lunch in the cafeteria before coming to the library. On occasion, the library will be closed for individual class use or other activities, announcements will be made if the library is to be closed on a particular day or for a particular time period.
Borrowing Library Materials
All members of the Andrews Middle School community may borrow library books. No library card is needed; your last name or student I.D. card will be used to access your account. All materials must be checked out at the circulation desk by a librarian. Materials are due in two weeks, but may be renewed as needed. Students will be responsible for any unreturned items and will be required to pay for the replacement cost of that item.
