Career and Technical Education (CTE) is thriving in Massachusetts. In Medford, we are beginning to see growth in our enrollment. While we continue to focus on small learning communities, it is essential that students are able to enroll in high level coursework while simultaneously learning the necessary technical skills to be successful in their respective CTE program.

Students at MVTHS have the option to explore up to 21 technical programs. Programming & Web Development, Media Technology, and Hospitality have been added to our 18 existing Chapter 74 programs ( It is the intention that these programs will be approved by MA Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) by the beginning of 2017.

Developing strong academic and technical skills is a key focus of MVTHS. Collaborating with Medford High School, we are excited to continue the tradition of training our future workforce in the Greater Boston area. Most of our CTE programs include trade certifications, licensure hours, and credentials that prepare them for college and career. Articulated credit through statewide articulation agreements at community colleges are awarded to students who have met the criteria set forth upon graduation. These opportunities are afforded to all students who follow a career pathway at MVTHS.

Renovations continue throughout the school. This includes strategically placing like programs in close proximity to each other for ease of curriculum implementation. Our TV studio that will house PEG (public, education, and government) is scheduled to begin construction mid-Fall. Media Technology students will operate in a satellite location during construction. Our new Programming & Web Development program will include a variety of opportunities for students while the Hospitality career area will expand our existing Culinary Arts facility.

On behalf of the entire staff at MVTHS, I thank you for choosing us for your high school education. I trust you will have a great year and be part of a movement to offer exceptional technical education in Medford!
